We'd just picked up a new car and were enjoying that new-car smell.

On our very first family road trip, one of the kids hit us with the classic line:

"Dad... I don't feel so good."

Naturally, I gave the classic dad response:

"You'll be right, mate. Just get a bit of fresh air."

Thirty-two point three seconds later...

"Huuuuurrrrkkk..."

And just like that, the new-car smell was gone forever.
